Academic: MSc in computer science, 3 years of philosophy and aesthetics.
Professional
Before moving into mobile development, worked for about a year with computational geometry, user interface design/implementation, 3d visualization and documentation.
Started programming S60 in 2003, when the Nokia 3650 was the latest and greatest. Did a bit of hacking around the phone stack, speech synthesis and wrote a symbolic disassembler, to complement the lack of documentation with reverse engineering (completely within the confines of the law, of course).
After a break from computer jobs, took over the maintenance and development of the Symbian port of the Mophun gaming middleware, at a company that was then called Synergenix. Did mostly bug fixing, UI improvements, test engineering and porting to new targets, including porting the whole system to Symbian 9. Learned all the nitty-gritty of platform security and Symbian Signed during the process, both from a theoretical and a practical perspective.
Moved on to TAT in September 2006. Spent the first year there working on integrating animations into Symbian user interface frameworks, alongside eg. NewLC regular alh. Has since moved on to a different position within the company, in the development team of TAT Cascades, the UI toolkit of the future.
