Am I right to think that Borland C++BuilderX Personal (now available for download) can't be used to develop S60 or UIQ apps?
Please prove me wrong...

I think you are right. But of course you can just use the editor, which is better than the other free alternatives (dev-c++ or eclipse) and just create scripts which execute the whole tool chain for the device, and you can call these scripts form the IDE (at least the non-free mobile version, lets you define scripts, which you can call easily form the IDE).

Hi All,

[Sami] Are you sure the personal edition can run the Symbian SDKs ?

In previous C++ Builder releases,  the free personal edition did not support the mobile add-on and you have to use the enterprise edition. The only exception being the version available on Forum Nokia.

Eric,

Hm I guess I read to fast. Sad

From forum.nokia:

All C++BuilderX editions (except the free Personal edition) are bundled with the Series 60 SDK 1.2 for Symbian OS, Borland Edition and the Nokia 9200 Communicator Series SDK for Symbian OS 1.2.

But maybe you can give it a try....  Smiley to know it for sure.

Sami

PS: We are using Enterprise, so thats causing my mis-answer...... (but still dont know it for sure).

I'm new to mobile SDK's but I 'm using C++ BuilderX Enterprise with no problems. As a newbie I think that borland's environment is very good for mobile applications. It offers a lot of options  and even I'm a begginer I din't have any problems compiling or running the examples provided with Nokia's SDK's.

Have you tried also with UIQ 2.1 (according to press release it should work) but I didn't suceed yet to debug neither on emulator nor on target. And from borland forum I also got no answer on that.
