Hello !

I have a problem concerning how to connect my 6630 to the internet, but through PC ( i mean with cable or BT).
I know the trick with giving in Setting-> Access Point an empty profile and then let the bluetooth to connect to the pc, but the problem seems that the 6630 doesn't have a serial Bluetooth connection... and the Nokia Suite isn't very helpful concerning cable connection.
I've also tried gnuBox, but the software won't start : if you are waiting for the 6630 to give you a message error, you can wait very long, because it seems as if error messages won't be shown, even if you have a "kern exec error"..... Evil
Moreover I can't find any mRouter, if i want one to be visible, i have to launch the mRouter software of my P900.... Huh
Could someone tell me how to go to the internet with the 6630 over a PC ?
Or is this possible ? Because I'm asking myself if this is not intentionaly locked...

Thx a lot !!!!

You would need GnuBox. That can make your phone to cooperate with (whatever, even the P900 one) mRouter server on your PC and let you browse the net or download emails, etc.

Unfortunately there is no version of GnuBox that runs on the 6630. Yet.

I could probably create it though. I did it with the SonyEricsson P900, and the result can be found at http://gnubox.dnsalias.org/gnubox/. Unfortunately I do not own a 6630, neither have I access to one. Thus all I can offer is to closely cooperate with you (or somebody else) so that I change the code, give you a .SIS, you install, run it and tell me what happened. Then again, I fix or try to fix, you test... until it works (or we give up).

If you agree, post an answer here or PM me and we'll get in contact.

Hi,

I have once watched the gnuBox code, because I also wanted to port gnuBox to 6630. So the problem is, that the 6630 has no Bluetooth Serial Port. The mRouter software is also absent, and the Nokia Software won't give you any help to connect to your LAN. I even tried to take the mRouter software of the P900 to connect my 6630.
Gnubox was indeed a very good software, but the 6630 has no BT Serial Port and that is not nice Sad It's quite a pity.
If i can remember gnuBox specifies somewhere to use the RFCOM stuff. So i can't see another solution to connect my 6630 to the Internet and to use socket Sad

Hi!

Thanks for all of you who offerd help/showed interest.
As there are numerous users on different forums please come to the primary discussion place of GnuBox, the symbian open source community forum. A thread for 6630 is already open there and I already have asked an important question, for which I need quick answer.

Basically GnuBox does not need a serial port _server_ to be running on the phone. It will do fine with a serial port _client_. The serial port server was used only by the mrouter client on the phone to be notified of a connection request. As GnuBox does not use the mrouter client (on the phone) it will do perfectly fine without it. Only the most quick-and-easy setup for gnubox has gone, you will need exactly 3 more clicks to set it up Smiley
