carbide express installation problem

I installed carbide express on my laptop (with XP SP 2), then installed SDK and then Active Perl. When I tried to launch the IDE, I got the infamous "JVM terminated" messgae. After reading in the forum I installed the JRE 1.4.2_11 and copied its bin and lib folders to the jre in the carbide folder.
I managed to launch carbide this time but the warm elevation feeling I had quickly change to huge dissapointment. I got a message "unable to read workbench state. Workbench UI will be reset" then carbide opened but it was all grey and I can't do anything. For example, File-->New shows "No applicable Items". I tried to un-install ands re-install in different order but without help. It seems the eclispe platform works OK for standard C++ project but when switching to symbian perspective, it fails. any ideas? thanks, Imzadi |

Also you should not need to copy any JRE file into Carbide directory.
And if nothing work, I would bet on a carbide full reinstallation.

I tried it and it didn't work. If I don't change the bin and lib directories in carbide/JRE, I always get the error message "JVM terminated. Exit code=1..."
I also tried to re-install carbide. un-install the SDK, ActivePerl and JRE 1.4.2. an re install all in a differnet order. it didn't help. I tired to install carbide developer but that didn't help either.
It's very frustrating not being able to install it on a laptop aftar working with carbide for months on my desk computer.
