i need to record audio in 6600. by default it supports AMR but my requirement is Ogg.
is ogg encoding possible in symbian?.
what is diff b/w Ogg,AMR.
which one is best when i move to newer symbian versions.

The whole ogg vorbis suite is free software, so you could just port the encoder.

AFAIK, AMR is supported natively on all (or most) Symbian devices, whereas Ogg doesn't seem to be supported on any of them.

As for the formats themselves, use google.

i saw ogg vorbis MMF version for symbian 6600. it seems support only decoding Ogg.
so i have to port existing sources symbian.
is that rite? or is there ogg encode versions available for symbian.

AFAIK only decode is available., so you have to do the port yourself.

hi eric,

i m also trying to play the ogg files in my application.
Can u give me some suggestions abt ogg decoder and how to port in symbian platform.

I got some example in symbian websiter but i cant able to imporet those symbian codes into my workspace.

Can anybody ve the workign example or document abt ogg player?
