Hello,

Though I am aware of the fact that the UIQ SDK supplied with CodeWarrior is not intended to work with WinXP, I nevertheless went for it and installed it. The emulator always crashes with a SocketServer Panic.

However, the Series60 emulator works fine.
Does anyone know what I can do to alleviate the situation with the UIQ emulator? There is some XP software I need to run at the same time!

My setup is as follows:
Codewarrior Personal Edition
Series60_CW 0.9
UIQ_70 2.0 PLUS the official update

Thanks in advance,
Pawel

I am not using the UIQ yet, but did you try to install the Symbian Winsock library ?

Nope, this didn't help.. the SocketServer is still crashing. On Win2K, which I've been using for years, the UIQ/Series60 SDKs coexisted fine. I still hope to be able to resolve this without reinstalling the OS.

I may be on to something..
The SocketServer error more specifically had to do with a module called HCI which as far as I know stands for the Host Controller Interface of the Bluetooth stack.

Some SonyEricsson people suggested removing the Bluetooth CSY from the emulator, but that didn't help me. I removed a HCI.dll and now the emulator seems to be fine. Should other problems emerge, I will keep you posted.

In any case, this paves the way for me to switch my dev environment to be VMWare/Virtual PC -based. I have so much stuff installed on my computer that I can't risk an OS reinstall just because an SDK does not work. Going with mutliple Windows2000 installations with WinXP VMWare should be just fine, AND I can avoid reinstallations because I can save virtual disk images. Also works for time-locked software too  Wink

Back to work,
Pawel
