Minimum version of Perl

Hello,

which is the minimum version of Perl that can still be used with the SDK 2 (version 7.0)? It seems that 5.8.x has insurmountable problems with the generation of help files for languages requiring Unicode characters. Can I safely go back to a version of Perl below this?

perl 5.1.8 works with unicode.  i tried to install two versions of perl and work.  to switch between perl, modify the path.
