version 3.0 to 3.1...change in behavior

What gives... I was using CW 3.0 and I was able to place multiple mmp files in one group directory. When imported into CW a <mmpfilename>.pref file was created with the UID information. After upgrading to 3.1, CW went back to creating a uid.cpp file and will only allow one mmp file in a directory. Is there a setting that will cause CW to use .pref files instead of uid.cpp files? My codewarrior 3.1 (professional) creates a mmpfilename_UID_.cpp so no collisions there.
... I have set it to create files in \epoc32\build\etc, so this also elliminates risk to collide. (there is a checkbox in the import .mmp box)
