Socket Connectivity

Hi ! ,

I am trying to learn network programming in Symbian. I use SDK v2.1 for VC++.Net and C++ Builder X as my IDE.
I am studying the sample example provided as part of the SDK which is located at  ..\Symbian\7.0s\Series60_v21\Series60Ex\sockets.
The program does build but the connection always times out in the emulator as well as on the device. I am however able to access the same site as well as other sites from the Services menu .
What could be the problem ?
