I have a binary on [drive]:\data\. When I install my application to C: I can Backup & Restore without problems. However when I install to an MMC my binary is not restored ( I am using a Self Signing certificate ), my other binaries in other locations on the MMC are ok.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Also, the new Symbian Signed criteria notes that you can test Backup & Restore either by
using PC Suite or by backing up to a memory stick. Does this imply that they won't test Backup & Restore if the application is installed to the MMC? (I want my application to be installed to C for normal operation anyway)

Many thanks in advance.

I think you cannot test Backup & Restore with a Self Signing Certificate... You need to go through Symbian Signed first!

Eric. As In understand, there was a waiver for not being able to test Backup & Restore properly, but not with the new signing process.

It is not true or it is only partly true.
Backuping with self signing method can be possible!
If my application uses only user capabilities then I can sign my sis with self-signig method.
and the pc-suite can backup and restore my app from the c drive.
If I install the sis to mmc drive (e:) then all of files and exes are backed up and restored except one file which is on the following path=e:\data\...

I know that the backup&restore problem is fixed on 3re.ed fp1 but we are developing to 3rded too, not just for 3redfp1. We have to fill it a waiver for backup problem. Could you send me a waiver example?
And yes the new signing process does not write about waiver request...
