Hello, I hope to develop an application. Firstly, I will make a sis file and I can download it into the phone memory. The second is that I will integrate with ROM. Who can tell me what are differences between those? For example, What are differences in MMP file? Thanks! |

By "put this app with integrated ROM", do you mean that you want to put your application alongside the other, built-in standard phone applications, as part of the content of the ROM or more exactly the firmware FLASH memory?
This is not possible, I would say, not for "normal" persons anyway. Might look different for big companies, however, that could partner with Symbian, Nokia, SE etc.

to install the app on ROM you need to create something called an IBY file instead of PKG. You then need to have device flashing facilities to create firmware versions with your application incorporated. As said above - not possible for the ordinary developer unless you have third part support from somebody with these capabilities.

Hey, Symbian even documents how to deal with those .iby files:
Making ROM Image
Too bad this is essentially out of reach..

Hello,
Thank you for your reply. Yes I will work with NOKIA. So I hope to know how to do it with ROM.
Welcome any useful information.
