An Open question about Nokia Phones ?

As seen that in most cases the SIM cannot be removed without removing the battery. Is that a GSM requirement or a NOKIA requirement ? Is it valid for all the Nokia S60 phones or is there any phone (Nokia series 60 ) still whose SIM can be removed without removing the battery?

It is not a GSM requirement !
But it is an easy way to prevent hot-swap of SIM cards which is quite difficult to handle from a software point of view (and can probably lead to some security issues).
