REQUIRED BACKGROUND

• BSc (Hons) 2.1 in Computer Science (similar or higher)
• 3+ years experience in listed Key Skills & Experience section
• Experience in efficient algorithm and data structure design
• Software design, testing and delivery of commercial products
• Proactive, self-starter, work on own initiative and with teams

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Experience developing for systems with limited resources
• Experience using OOD/OOA methodologies and tools
• Experience designing and maintaining APIs
• Cross-platform development experience
• Multi-thread programming / integration and API understanding
• C / C++

KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPSONSIBILITIES

This role requires developing KPT’s Core Technology used in all its unique and advanced UI products for mobile devices and PCs. This position involves development/research of innovative, cutting-edge products and expects high levels of creativity and ingenuity to implement quality solutions.

You will work closely with other project teams covering differing product genres and OS platforms in order to develop common core product components and architectures. You will determine, create and be responsible for specifications, designs, implementations and tests for all solutions, including platform specific breakthroughs, workarounds, and optimisations. You will also be responsible for estimation of accurate project timescales

GENERAL TASKS & DUTIES

• Work closely with Project Managers, Team members and Team Leads to achieve company goals
• Deliver quality products, applications and/or solutions according to agreed project delivery milestones
• Fulfil respective design, specification and implementation subsets of software development cycle
• Actively participate in training and self-development
• Perform code reviews and due diligence, test scripting, modular, integration and regression testing
• Continuously strive to find better approaches to development and quality procedures
• Maintain high degree of source control and management
• Maintain and manage bug tracking, change requests and improvements logs
• Collaborate common development programmes, core modularity and generic products architecture
• Work with other project teams to identify, select / prioritise and plan development of future projects
• Research into optimum data modelling, compression techniques, algorithm derivation and API generation

• NLP / Computational linguistics experience
• Pattern recognition systems development experience
• Experience working with UNICODE and developing software for multiple languages
• Experience in software development process improvement
• Predictive text-entry systems development experience
• Data Compression techniques
• Interest in Human-Computer interaction
• Experience designing relational databases
• Distributed Client / Server and/or Telephony development
• Communications (TCP/IP, Mobile / Wireless and SMS / MMS)
• Sourcegear Vault, CVS, VSS, Clearcase, Subversion, Dragnet, Bugzilla, etc.
• Platforms – XP, Vista, WM5/6, Symbian, Embedded Linux, BREW and/or Palm OS development experience
• Customer focus and commercial awareness
