Installation "PU" suppress drive- How?

Hi We've got an application which we want to be able to update in situ on the phone. When we notice a user is connecting to our server using an out-of-date version we send him a message to download the newest version...this ought to update and be pur in the same installation drive as the original installation, to keep all the client's history current. So we found that the PKG file has a "PU" option for "partial update" which will only update those parts which are necessary. That's great, and we foudn it works fine. One line in the dopcumentation is puzzling though: When specifying a PU package, the drive selection dialog should be suppressed, so that the install drive will be the one associated with the existing package. Yes - the drive selection dialog should be suppressed but how do we do it? No clue is given in the help. Maybe this means "the operating system should suppress it", but it doesn't. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks -- |

Yes, it's means the "operating system installer" should suppress it. On S60 this works fine: if you install a PU upgrade package, you don't get a drive selection dialog. I've no idea if this works on other platforms though (e.g. UIQ).

Well, I'm trying it right now on an N73 (S60 v3) and the drive selection dialog is coming up (which is why I was asking.
Is this fixed in more recent S60 phones?
Just thought of something - could this be due to the fact that our application contains embedded SIS files (which are not marked PU)?

It's been working fine on my E60 and N82. If you've got some sort of hybrid sis (a PU package with embedded non-PU packages) then I definitely think that's most likely the problem.
