How to use Timers for using setting expiry time , inactivity time etc in any application

I want to writea code which can set timer expiry. inactivity for any application. Which notifiers are used and what type of .h files needed. Iam unsuccessful if Iam using exampletimer.h or timeouttimer.h. please specify the required .cpp and .h codes also.

Any body have succeeded pls help me.
