We have developed a 3d cricket game for series 60 2nd & 3rd edition devices.

I would like to get all advice that I can get from experts here on how to go about marketing this product.

What do you think about the market potential of this product?

Thank you.

I imagine that the chosen subject limits the marketable regions/countries somewhat.

I would first go to network operators (service providers, carriers) in the target countries (UK, India, Australia, whatever).

Of course, you can use global Internet channels, too, such as Handango, Nokia Software Market, Jamba!, etc.

And you can simply sell it off your own web site, too, naturally.

You can also go to a bigger game publisher who has the distribution channels established (EA, Gameloft, etc.)

Thanks for your advice N_A.

How to go about approaching an operator? Do they work with developers directly?

We have made the game available with aggregators like Handango, Clickgamer and Mobihand.
How are the sales figures distributed between carriers & online channels?

Also, would it be possible to get a big game publisher interested in a future release of the product and fund the development?

Different operators handle things differently. Some operators have separate application teams, some separate for different categories of apps (like games), some have nothing. Call them up (those that you're interested in) and ask them directly.

Same with publishers; contact them and ask.
