Does any one know if Symbian 9.3 or UIQ 3.3 contain the 3gp reader? As per my limited knoledge, the 3GP is a container which may contain other format e.g. H.263, H.264. So while reading a 3gp file, developer had to write a code which will extract the actual content from 3gp container and give it to the corresponding codec to play. This application to extract content from container is what I am referring to as "3gp Reader" in my question. Any quick help would be highly appreciated. thanks. |

You are right about 3GP. This is a subset of MPEG4 format targeted to mobile multimedia. MPEG4 specification includes a "System" specification which is just a container format for several streams (voice, music, text, movie, 2d graphics, 3d graphics, commands, etc...).
Does your question relates to whether Symbian Ltd provides this as part of Symbian platform to device manufacturer or whether phones based on Symbian 9.3 includes such reader ? As far as I know there is no such reader in Symbian 9.3 delivery to phone manufacturers.
