evc4.jpgMicrosoft has just released a Service Pack 4 for eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0. This service pack allows existing eVC4 users to target Windows CE 5.0 based devices. In addition to supporting the new Windows CE 5.0 platform, SP4 is cumulative in nature and includes support for Windows CE 4.0, 4.1 and 4.2 based platforms as well. This download must be installed on top of existing eVC4 installations.

You can download the Service Pack 4 for eMbedded Visual C++ 4.0 (66MB) from Microsoft web site.

It's been around for a few years now. For some reason, they've just updated the date on the download page. Seriously, I've downloaded the very same evc4sp4.exe on July 2004, and since then have been targeting WM5 with it, as well as older Windows Mobile 2003 and even Pocket PC 2002 (it's possible even though Microsoft says you need eVC3 for that purpose).

I subscribe to what Nasca said. It would be nice to see some SP for eMbedded that will work with Windows Mobile 6.0 Emulator... but afaik it's available only for Visual Studio 2005, and the Windows Mobile self standing emulator for Windows XP not only for Windows Vista.

I wonder why microsoft just update the date without updating the real package?
