hello, i am using symbian6.1 ,sdk1.2...i wish to connect my emulator to internet....i did every thing in as in the article.......every thing ok...but when i try to open a wap pages (wap.google.com) etc..with NTRAS access point...but after some time i got a message wap connection timed out.....why it shows such a message.... again another doubt::in my system there is no RAS server is configured...is the RAS server is needed here...??? here LAN settings are used....can i do these in the LAN settings...

when i am watching socket infor.. i could see connection is from 192.168.0.2 to something..but one machine with this ip is present in my LAN settings...is there any method to change emulator ip address...??

i am newbie in this.So dont laugh at me.I am using series 60 sdk 1.2 Nokia edition.I tried to connect my emulator to internet.I don't have a palm desktop software. without this s\w i have done some configurations as in this document.It shows"system error".In my PC(XP) use an internal modem in com3(dial up networking).

I am using virtual serial port kit instead of VSPD-XP3.In virtual serial port kit, it does not list com1 and com3. Using this i made a virtual connection between com2 and com4.Is it equivalent to redirecting com2 to com4 ?...Is it right to use this software to redirect com2 to com4 instead of VSPD-XP3...then i configured emulator at com2(1) port and reroute data to com4 using mrouterLite in sdk. it shows "Initialized" msg only.don't show the other two messages ("wait for connection" and "Negotiating hardware")...

In emulator i tried to access a wml page using access point NT RAS,it gives the message "system error".there are two access points named LINUX RAS and NT RAS and these came default when i put cdbv2.dat in the specified location. I did make any change in its configuration of access points.When i try to edit access point it is told that enter a "access number".what is this number?......what should i enter here in my case.

To which purpose i need palm Desktop software.When tried to download palm desktop software it told to specify the handheld/smartphone model.......then What should i specify here ?I dont know which palm software is to downloaded for the emulator which i have................ how can i activate palm synchronization.....plz specify the port in my case also..

if any one who had done it plz help me. this is the part of my academic project. thank you in advance..

I foget to say there is not virtual com port that i add in the mRouterLite.exe. In the mRouterLite.exe, there are always com1 ,com2, com3, com4 whatever i add any virtuÂ€al com port?

I want to ask: is wap gateway necessary if you don't visist wap station? however,i add com3 com4 in VSPD, i cann't find in the device manager? can you help me?

Hi jak4,

I'm using the siemens sx1 smtk and followed your instructions. I also copied the .dat file. So far everything works. but I can only connect via linux ras and not NT Ras. Do I still need to setup RAS on my local machine?

I can't connecting on my 6.1 with null-cable. I do evryting as follow,, my mRouterLite say: "disable at 115200 on com1", and in application i have -21 error.

Where I was wrong?!

Can not receive data using udp sockets

I am using udp sockets and a null modem cable. I can send data (using sendto). But i am not able to any receive data. It never comes in RunL fn of ReadSocket Class. I am sending TInetAddr which contains addr of my machine and the port number. The sdk documents mentios - On returning, anAddr points to a TInetAddr object holding the address of the remote source of the data. The mrouterlite.exe shows some un-understandable logs ,ip addresses and port numbers. Any idea what is going wrong and what the logs and ip addresses in mrouterlite.exe indicate ? Please help.

Hi, By reading your rsponse I felt like you succedded in configuring emulator Internet access wich I coannot do curently, Whoever I Apply the tutorial I Find on this website. I am Currently working on Series 60 V2.0 and using VC++ 6.0 like IDE. thanks in advance.

cdbv2.bat in v1.0 and v1.2 are diffirent.The operation on RAS due to this reason should also be diffirent,right?

I get the Sockets and mRouterLite work,but mRouterLite doenÂ´t trigger the Sockets at all.It seems there is no data being polled via com at all,who can give me some hint?? I am here for more than one week!Plz help me!

A typical issue, when developping a Symbian application, is to try to connect the Symbian emulator to the Internet. It is mandatory to achieve this if you intend to debug an online application. But it is not as simple as we may expect... Here is the solution that worked for me
