This is a very good tutorial for developer new to S60. But there is one question I want to ask. For the definition of a 'leave', does this mean it is only or most for memory issues? What is the meaning of a function that can leave? Or can you an give an example of an non-memory 'leave'? Thanks.

Thank you for Trapping the TRAP well done. I liked the explanation it combined active schedular , cleanupstack, and new(ELeave) which are responsible for handling exeptions in SOS.

There is also a TRAPD harness (notice the trailing 'D').

For example;

TRAPD(error, CallFuntion());

The difference between TRAP and TRAPD is that the 'error' in TRAP must use a previously declared TInt to store the error code returned, where as TRAPD declares the TInt, the 'D' stands for 'declare'.

Most of us which are beggining in Symbian programming have dificulties on to adapt yourself with the exception handling schema used in the Symbian C++ dialect. Personally, for me was very bore to know how to use the CleanupStack and the ELeave constant!!! Let me try to show you what I learned...

read more
