I just had a quick look at the new version, and indeed, not much seems to have changed, and that includes the absurd capabilities. I don't have a device that I can run it on, so my interest is quite low at the moment.

"Compatibility: Windows XP/2003/Vista"

That's kind of a problem for me.

I think sisinfo.py is not very suitable tool for work with sis files, it's old and has a lot of bugs. I used SISContents (http://symbiandev.cdtools.net) to extract n-gage from initial sis package and analyze the contents of n-gage.sisx and it worked fine.

Well, it surely keeps the novice developers and enthusiastic end-users from hacking it. But a pro would definately manipulate the capabilities if the extra ones are just to keep from using developers certificate

wl: I very much doubt that that's the reason why they use all those capabilities. But then again, it seems like the developers have a quite bad understanding of platform security, and security in general, so who knows?

webkit_table.dat - looks like list of current version of WebKit Browser (http://webkit.org/) for some devices by their uids.

imho, huge set of required capabilities - it's just for preventing cracking games (impossible to sign such sis with Developer Certificate). bad try...

In this article, the N-Gage first access SIS file is unpacked and dissected, and some interesting findings are reported. What does FlashLite have to do with N-Gage, what devices are supported, and what is the security culture really like inside Nokia?
