Some weeks ago Trolltech postponed full scale shipping of
its Greenphone because of some licensing issues in the open source software distributed with the Greenphone SDK. It looks like these issues are now resolved, and shipments have resumed.
The Greenphone now comes with updated QTopia platform (v 4.1.7), based on Linux kernel 2.4.19.
Other phone specifications:
QVGA®LCD color screen
Marvell® PXA270 312 MHz application processor
64MB RAM & 128MB Flash
Mini-SDâ„¢ card slot
Broadcom® BCM2121 GSM/GPRS baseband processor
Tri-band (GSM 900/1800/1900) support
Bluetooth® equipped
Mini-USB port
1.3 megapixel camera
The phone is not really intended for end user and has a quite high price tag due to its confidential distribution (695 US$ with the community SDK, 800 US$ with the light commercial SDK) but is the first real device based on Linux for mobile developer in Europe (not taking into account the Nokia 770 tablet which is not a phone but a Wifi enabled PDA and based on a different GUI platform).
More information can be found on Trolltech web site and expect a review on NewLC has we just bought one...
