Nokia today announced the availability of version 4.5 of the Qt cross-platform application and UI framework. It also introduced Qt Creator, a new lightweight cross-platform Integrated Development Environment (IDE), Qt 4.5 and Qt Creator combined comprises the Qt SDK, an easy to install package that will let developers create applications quickly and easily.

Motorola has responded to the news earlier this week that rival Nokia plans to purchase Trolltech, long-time supplier of the graphical development framework used in Motorola's Linux phones. In a nutshell, the response boils down to, "We were over Qt, anyway."...

Some weeks ago Trolltech postponed full scale shipping of its Greenphone because of some licensing issues in the open source software distributed with the Greenphone SDK. It looks like these issues are now resolved, and shipments have resumed.

Trolltech today announced the general availability of Qtopia Platform, its newest addition to Qtopia 4 Series. Built upon the features of Qtopia Core, Qtopia Platform includes a host of features that help developers create multi-application Linux-based devices.
