Mer is not a Maemo fork but the result of joined efforts between Maemo, Ubuntu and of Debian (deblet), alpha version can be installed on the OpenMoko FreeRunner. Watch the video demo....

Yet an other Linux distribution for OpenMoko, but you have to compile it by your own first ... on your phone or desktop ... what about inside the emulator ?

ZDNet reports that Nokia plans to add 3G support in the next version of its Linux-based Maemo platform: On Wednesday, Nokia's open source chief Dr Ari Jaaksi told the audience at an Open Source In Mobile (OSIM) event in Berlin that Maemo 5 would include support for high-speed packet access (HSPA), a standard sometimes described as 'super-3G'.
