Nokia today announced during Nokia World 2007 in Amsterdam the winners in the first “Open C Challenge,” a global mobile application development contest encouraging open source and freeware developers to port innovative software applications with Nokia’s Open C environment to the S60 mobile platform.

samsung.png The Samsung Innovation Quest is a contest to find new exciting applications for mobile devices with up to 240.000$ in money prizes. The contest is divided into two branches, Professional and Academic. The professional contest is an open topic, open OS (S60 3rd Edition FP2 or Windows Mobile 6) based application development competition targeting individual developers, teams and application developing companies.

UIQ Technology announced today the start of the second annual UIQ Open, a developer competition aimed at finding and showcasing the most innovative, useful and entertaining third-party applications on the UIQ software development platform. The UIQ Open is an application competition where mobile software development companies submit UIQ 3 applications in different categories on the UIQ Developer Program website.

bt_logo_static.jpg London, 8th October 2007 - BT today announces the launch of a competition to promote the development of innovative applications and services for Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices. The competition will be launched at the Symbian Smartphone Show, 16-17 October at the ExCel Centre in London. The overall winner will receive £1000 in prize money, with further monetary prizes for second and third places.

Beijing, China - Today SINA, China's leading online media company, announced that they have joined as a sponsor in Nokia's ongoing mobile multiplayer games competition to support the global search for new game developer talent and bring a new breed of innovative, connected mobile games to the Chinese market. As a result of SINA joining the competition, Nokia announced that the deadline for accepting mobile game concepts based on the SNAP Mobile platform has been extended to September 24.

The ‘Mobile Rules!’ competition aims to promote excellence in both applications developed for mobile and for businesses launching or promoting services in the mobile arena. The initiative is in its second year. In 2006, it was launched as the ‘Web2Mobile’ competition; the change of name reflects the increased scope, prizes and reach of this year’s contest.

The UIQ Open is an application competition where software developers and software companies submit UIQ 3 applications in different categories on the UIQ Developer Community website. Started December 2006, the competition ended on February 18, 2007, and during the past few weeks a jury of experts has evaluated the submissions coming from all over the world and appointed winners.

The winning applications will receive a prize package and will be part of the UIQ Demo Suite 2007.
