Symbian SDK switcher is a freeware utility that allow you yo quickly switch from one SDK to another. Once launched, the application displays a system tray icon listing all SDK available on your machine.

At Symbian's request, CodeSourcery has made available an updated version (2005-Q1C) of the Symbian OS GNU tool chain packages. This is a bug-fix only release, including fixes for problems with invoking the tool chain under the CodeWarrior IDE and with using the linker options "-Tdata" and "-Map" simultaneously.

The devices command allows you to specify which Symbian OS device to develop for, and configures the required environment settings according. The command was introduced with Symbian v7.0 SDKs.

On all devices based on Symbian OS v7.0s (Series 60 Developer Platform 2nd Edition, Series 80 Developer Platform 2.0, and Series 90 Developer Platform 2.0) it is possible to save considerable disk space by compressing an application's executable files.

This article describes the plug-in for the Eclipse IDE that I've written which allows to write Symbian programs under Eclipse. It's quite simple (the lack of debugger is probably it's biggest drawback) but definitely nicer than running ABLD commands from the command prompt.

Can I develop for the Symbian OS Emulator without buying an IDE? Are there any free tools I can use in order to write Symbian applications for a Symbian SDK without having to buy an IDE? How can I configure my system in order to use these tools?
