Re: Retrieving IMEI

Most GSM phones do not run Windows (or have Microsoft's CLR/CLI), so you can't write an app in C# for them, to retrieve the IMEI (or anything else). If you want to write for a Windows Mobile based GSM phone, then you'd better ask on a Microsoft Windows Mobile discussion board.

If you are writing a C# application for a PC, then how you get the IMEI on a PC depends on how the phone is connected to the PC, and what that connection/interface allows.

you dont need to install perl on device. On pc install 5.6.1.638 perl and not the newer version. Google it and you might get it.

To save your efforts, here is one of the links links I got from googling.....NOTE the version I mentioned :

you are looking to install perl in pc or device?? usually for developmental purposes, you need to install perl on pc. I just thought that maybe you are searching for the one which we usually use i.e. for pc??

Quote from: pirosl

Don't really understand what exactly do you mean...if you think you'll find a single c++ sdk to develop for mobile phones is not true. Most of the phone vendors who developed linux based phones...developed also their own linux distribution....so

Yes, I know that, But own linux distibution is something different then full apis that could be used by external developers. Rewriting documentation. Solving user security issues. Instalers. Easy on platform downloads of aplications...

But you are right. Market is much more bigger. Your link show me that there is more then just motorola. Hopefully some companies distribute they own sdks now. Maybe someday they will come even to europe.... Developers could benefit much if planty of Motorolas have native c++ support.

Quote

Just a story to support your frustation.
http://mobile.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=06/02/01/1655248&tid=104

Nice article. And there is no real benefit for Motorola Users as they write:)

Thanks guys for help.

No C++ besides symbian or windows based phones....

We were told some time ago that linux-based phones will come and we could develop for them as well in C++. The truth is that Motorolas phones is piece of s..... I know it well because I just sold V3....

Check for n770 from nokia. It uses a debian based linux version (and you can develop in c++ for it ) The linux distribution used for n770 is caled maemo and you can find further informations about it on http://www.maemo.org
