If the example demos are native Symbian C++, look in the SDK and IDE documentation on how to compile for a target device and create Symbian Installation System (.sis, .sisx) files and install those.

If the example demos are Java, correspndingly create .jar file(s) to install on the device.

or enter 'devices' in a dos shell. It will tell you about installed SDKs if any.

There are several ways:

1. Go to the %EPOCROOT%\Series60Doc\ folder and check for this file s60_sdk_help.chm, open that it shows which version of SDK.

2. Go to the %EPOCROOT%\Epoc32\data folder and open epoc.ini check the value for _EPOC_DRIVE_D. From that line you can asume the version.

There is no Symbian/S60 emulator that runs on Linux, only Windows.

Workaround: use, e.g., VMware to host a virtual machine that runs Windows on your Linux PC.

If you want to use the original Windows installation package, you (or someobody else) probably have to install it first on a Windows PC (at least if something like Wine doesn't allow you to run it on Linux as-is) and then use/copy the files.

There are no good Symbian development tools for Linux. Especially no emulator. Some/most command line tools you can use, but not very convenient. Here's for starters: http://gnupoc.sourceforge.net/

there are .deb files for the utilities such as makesis, bmconv, petran and rcomp, but you can do your own rpm,
i also tried both sdks on Suse, there was no problem.

but debian is the best i can't be objective in this issue

which method dou you use currently in linux,
> we have to configure the win simulator and change a large mounts of shell scripts to achive the sdk working on linux.
it seems gnupoc.

I'm workig with sdk2unix currently:
http://www.koeniglich.de/symbian_sdk_on_unix.html

if i can finish my graduation thesis one day, i'm planning to try porting Series60 sdk2.1 to gnupoc.

i think supporting Gnupoc or sdk2unix is more realistic, rather than starting a new project.
