Thanks, Stephane for the detailed report in your comment from 16-03-2007. In fact in my case the WINDOWS directory it named WINNT51. I'll try a reinstallation on another system to verify if this is the reason for other problems.

There is a newer version of SymSdks available at Slion.net.

It fixes the issue described in here.

Hello StÃ©phane,

can you specify what was the reason the first version of the switcher did not show the SDKs list? On my computer this was the case. I installed v1.1 and it works now.

But I have some other troubles, for example the SIP plugin seems not to find any SDK. It starts installation but does not ask for the SDK directory. All tools are installed but there are no data written to the SDK directory which, of course, is the main point of interest. Maybe a similar reason?

I used to do that a few years back while working for Sendo, Symbian or Atelier. Now that I'm back in the third party application development using the latest SDK I had various issues with the subst method.

Recent SDKs don't actually need EPOCROOT to be explicitly defined anymore. The good thing with not using subst is that you don't have to have 10 drive letters allocated to each of the SDK installed on your machine.

That tool does not provide a new method to use multiple SDKs. It is only a fancy way to make use the devices command. Thus you can easily visualize the SDKs you have installed on a machine and change the default one.

Is there any reason why you just couldn't use subst? Just set epocroot to \ and subst the root directory of your Symbian environment.

Symbian SDK switcher is a freeware utility that allow you yo quickly switch from one SDK to another. Once launched, the application displays a system tray icon listing all SDK available on your machine.
