Only download and get them from sites with a good reputation (like this one, my-symbian.com, allaboutsymbian.com, handango.com or the developer's own site, if you know what the developer's site really is).

And don't download from sites that advertise pirated or cracked software (so called "warez"), or non-reputable or non-developer sites that advertise they have "keygens", "keys", "registration keys", "full versions", etc.

And don't install anything unknown people send to you (or even from people you know, if they send something without you asking for it from them first).

If you do that, you should be automatically filtering our any and all malicious apps.

And, in any case, make frequent backups (if something goes wrong, you have your data/information safe).

Because those companies have not paid to have their applications verified and signed by the "Symbian Signed" program (http://www.symbiansigned.com/). If an app is not signed like that, you will always see the installation time warning.

hi N/A, i did some homework on "symbian sites" of late.

realised, that all those companies that i mentioned earlier are actually affiliate partners of symbian, who assist symbian with "after-market contributions" for it's continued operations.

then why doesn't 7710 recognise these companies' certificates ?

http://www.my-symbian.com is not Symbian's site. It is Michal Jerz's very good community site, but it is not paid for or supported by Symbian.

The bottom of the front page even says "This website is not in any way endorsed or supported by Symbian Software Limited."

It can, of course be called "a Symbian" site, but not "Symbian's" site. And that site prompotes software from many, many different software companies.

Symbian's site is http://www.symbian.com/ (they do the operating system, but they don't develop and sell actual applications; except as example code for developers to be used for free).

details of the softwares that i'm talking about is as follows:

IM+ Mobile Instant Messenger by shape services
Powerfile by symbianware
Pdf+ by mBrain software

all these are advertised on symbian's site as "series 90 software" at http://my-symbian.com

if these softwares r not developed by symbian, then why r they being promoted on it's site ?

Symbian (http://www.symbian.com/) have not written "instant messanger", "Pdf+" or "powerfile".

What (whose), "instant messanger" do you mean (real application name, vendor and site from which you're trying to get it)?

PowerFile is by SymbianWare (again, not Symbian):

In any case, at least mBrain and SymbianWare are reputable companies you are safe buying apps from for your phone (can't say about the "instant messanger" software until you say what instant messenger app you're really talking about).
