Hi, I got same error after making some changes to a project wich was running ok before.
When I got the error NMAKE U1052, I started by checking other projets and they were ok.
Finnally I checked the long listing of the build log and discovered that my ressource file .hrh wad an error (an unterminated comment). fixed that.
In case this doesnt work look for the .loc file also.
PS. I assume you have nmake,exe in the path.
