Also: You don't need to find and download GCC-E separately; it is already included/delivered with the various Symbian (S60, UIQ) SDKs.

Just to be extra clear,

You don't have to use RVCT2.2, but if you want to use it, you have to buy it from ARM.
If you don't want to pay the (pretty high) license fee, you can download and use GCCE instead.

GCCE is enough for almost everyone, and most people buy RVCT2.2 only because they
A. Is a big company
B. Work with a big company and they tell you to get it
C. Do extremely high performance needing applications.
D. Just want the best.
