Programming languages

Your question sounds a little surprising to me: Why would you want to learn Visual Basic or Java when wanting to write an application in C++?

There is no way around the fact at the moment that programming a native Symbian application means programming in C++. C++ is probably one of the harder programming languages around, but that's life...

As I personally see it, only for somebody that so far has *no* programming experience at all it might pay to learn to program first with the help of a language that is more suitable for that than C++. Java, being a very well-designed and clean language, would be a good choice for such a case, IMHO.

But let me say that for somebody who starts with no programming experience the way to a Symbian application in C++ is a long and hard one
