I guess this is a matter of preference, but this is the only forum I have seen where a post gets re-ordered when I edit it.

I think it is rather a bug !
As you mention, this would totally mess up the forum.

It seems the posts are sorted by the last-edited date instead of the created date.

Personally I don't like this, I just fixed a small (but serious) typo in one post I posted a few days ago, and it was put at the end of the thread.
