&lt;p&gt;As I was based in China and I am a Chinese, I think what the post said is absolutely wrong. Chinese governent has never ruled and will never rule such restrictions on &#039;commericial/capitalist&#039;  phones.  There is a potential consumer group which smart phones could target and Nokia, Sonyeircsson have delivered a number of such products to the mainland market.  But I admit that sale scales is not as high as in European and American markets.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I was not aware that Symian has opened an office in China. if it is true, I think it is a good news for Chinese developer communities.&lt;/p&gt;
