This article is using the open source PBX Asterisk to setup a SIP account properly on the Nokia E60. Therefore the configuration for different SIP servers may be similiar.
This article is referring to the howto from nextmobile.
Create a new sip account on the asterisk
Add following setting to sip.conf (the username "44" is just used for example !):

Hi,
With all that settings, I'll be able to phone over the internet with a wifi connection for free only with my asterisk account????
Hi All,
I wanted to ask if SIP client works only when the connection goes through WLAN? Can I use SIP when connected by UMTS?
I don't think N80 works with voip, it has sip but not the voip client i believe.
I really wonder if g729 works, don't feel like buying if not. Might use the open one for testing.
Hi, I use your setting but my Asterisk say: unauthorized. I don't understand whare is the problem.

Found this on net:
My company is working together with Nokia to test N80 IE for SIP application. We received the latest development firmware for tests. This firmware handles STUN protocoll during registration. We made many tests with different type Linksys and other wifi routers. The result is that with most of the Linksys boxes the N80 does not work, it even cannot register with SIP server. We made IP dumps in the phone and in the server also and it seems that the implementation of the STUN protocol is not correct in the N80. It works on full cone nat, but does not work on any restriced nat. We told the problems to the local Nokia guys, but they had very strange reaction. They said that the development was finished and this firmware would be the commercial one. If that is the case, Nokia will have huge problems if they introduce N80 IE with this firmware on the market. It will work only on very limited number of wifi routers. Can somebody help me from Nokia to discuss and fix this problem? I can provide all SIP logs both for successfull and faulty registrations.
nokia N80ie version..
I have identical setups in an E61 and a N80ie...
the e61 will work fine over gprs and wlan.. but the n80ie works only on wlan.
The strange thing is.. on wlan, the n80ie registers with the server and then shows registered under sip settings and shows the little telephone icon in the upper right hand corner when the phone icon is on, the phone will make sip calls without a problem. On GPRS though, the n80ie shows registered under sip settings (also registered on sip server) but does not show the telephone icon in the upper corner. The phone is connected and sends sip msgs to the server but rejects calls as busy and also refuses to send an "internet" call. Again, the e61 on gprs works great and can send an rcv calls just fine.
Has anyone else tested this issue. Ive tripple checked the settings on both phones.
thanks

Mu phone can use the web browser with the defined WLAN connection setings, bur when i try to use this setings with the "internet phone" i receive a "Can't connect to the connection network" (this message is translated by me because the phone is in spanish)
If y run tcpdump in the asterisk server, there are no packets from the phone.
