UIQ Technology today announces the launch of the UIQ 2.1 SDK for Symbian OS™ v7.0. The new SDK provides developers with new options, tools and services making it even easier to develop applications for UIQ based media-rich mobile phones.
The SDK will be compatible with both Metrowerks Codewarrior environment and the newly announced Borland C++BuilderX tools.
The beta version of the SDK is available for download on Symbian web site.

A very interesting aspect of the UIQ 2.1 SDK is that there is finally a WINS version of the UIQ emulator (rather than just a WINSCW version).
Besides being compatible with Borland C++, this WINS version can also be used with Visual Studio 6.
In other words, it is now possible to use the UIQ emulator even if you don't have CodeWarrior installed, but Visual Studio. This is particularly helpful for people doing parallel development for Series 60...
