Symbian to see strong growth in 2003
News posted March 5th, 2003 by benk
2.1 million Symbian devices have been shipped in 2002 (compared to 0.5m in 2001) - mostly Nokia 7650. No doubt that 2003 will be even better for Symbian with the arrival pn the market of the P800, the N3650 and maybe the N-Gage, the SX1 and the Motorola device.
This generates roughly 11 million euros incomes from licence royalties (licence price is USD7.5 / USD5 depending on volume). Main incomes still comes from technical consulting provided to hardware manufacturers to make their own devices. However, Symbian is still loosing money (~60 million euros in 2002) but won't need any new funding in 2003.
