Forum Nokia has just released some updates for a couples of tools: PC Suite Connectivity API v1.1 and S60 Theme Studio v3.0.

PC Suite Connectivity API v1.1

The Nokia PC Suite Connectivity API (PCSAPI) is a successor of the existing Nokia PC Connectivity SDKs. With the Nokia PCSAPI, application developers can now add application connectivity capabilities, not just to Series 40 applications but also to applications for S60 devices based on S60 2nd Edition Feature Packs 1, 2, and 3; S60 3rd Edition; Series 80 devices (the Nokia 9300 smartphone and Nokia 9500 Communicator); and Nokia 7710 devices, where they are supported by the Nokia PC Suite (for a complete list of supported Nokia devices, see www.nokia.com/pcsuite/). The Nokia PCSAPI is an integrated part of the Nokia PC Suite and takes advantage of the suite's existing capabilities. It has been designed to free the application developer from the complexity of the connectivity and transmission protocols and phone system architecture. The Nokia PCSAPI is supported by Nokia PC Suite 6.6 or later.

S60 Theme Studio

The S60 Theme Studio for Symbian OS is a PC tool for creating themes for S60 devices. The tool enables the creation of custom themes that can alter the appearance of the S60 UI components and the Music Player. With the tool themes can be created, edited, and viewed. The S60 Theme Studio allows the user to evaluate the appearance of wallpaper, application icons, color schemes, or any other UI component. Once a theme has been created, the S60 Theme Studio will package it into a Symbian OS installationfile and prepare it for Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Digital Rights Management (DRM) protection, if required, after which it willbe ready for deployment to devices. The latest version adds support for S60 3rd Edition and its new theme capabilities, including morphing themes and animatedeffects. These new platform features provide developers and creative professionals with new opportunities to create innovativeand compelling experiences for the end user.
