This book is a follow-up of the Volume 1 above. It goes in deeper details of a few key features of the Symmbian OS. One of the most interesting chapter deals with the Multimedia framework introduced in Symbian 7.0s. This book is also a good introduction to the UI framework and threat equally of UIQ and Series 60 platforms.

Symbian OS Explained is currently the only book that focuses on middleware development. With the presentation of Active Object, Threads and Processes, the Client/Server API, and the ECOM framework, it gives you a good introduction to these complex features.
