Programming for the Series 60 Platform and Symbian OS - Digia Series 60

This book is the first and only one dealing specifically with Nokia Series 60 platform. In that sense, it has no competitor and contains valuable information. It presents most aspect of the platform.

The Part 2, dealing with Series 60 GUI objects, is the main interest of the book, and could be a subject for an entire book.

I had a lof of expectations regarding Programming for the Series 60 Platform and Symbian OS but I must admit I was a little bit disappointed by it: It is not that easy to navigate and get a precise information from it. And it is more or less a description of a Rock-Paper-Scissors game than a book describing all the details of Series 60. I would recommend Professional Symbian Programming: Mobile Solutions on the EPOC Platform if you are a beginner to Symbian OS, unless you need NS60 specific information.

Perhaps it is not stated clearly enough that this book really does assume you have a fairly solid background in Symbian programming. It should prove very useful though for those aiming at efficiently programming attractive Series60 applications.

Disclaimer: I am a co-author of this book.
