Nokia releases Carbide.vs 2.0.1

Platforms:

Carbide.vs 2.0.1 is an update to the Carbide.vs product which enables Symbian OS C++ development using Microsoft Visual Studio .Net 2003. The update provides support for the Nokia S60 3.0 Final SDK. Version 2.0.1 will also work with the UIQ SDK, however UIQ SDK support is not included in the basic package, you need to download a special support package from UIQ Technology (The plugin is not available at the time of writing of the article).

Download Carbide.vs 2.0.1 from Forum Nokia.

UIQ Technology will provide a separate UIQ 3 Support package enabling Carbide.vs tool to be used with the UIQ 3 SDK; expect this package to be release next week (from March, 6).

UIQ 2.x is not supported, but maybe you can tweak the package to work with a UIQ 2.x SDK, however the support package will include templates and such that will not be suitable to the 2.1 framework.

Actually the UIQ Carbide.vs Extensions has SDK Descriptors for both UIQ 3.0 and UIQ 2.1.

If you are using a different UIQ SDK to the above, you should be able to copy the files in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symbian\SDK Descriptors\UIQ and set the right deviceName etc.

Hope this helps,

Frankie

What about Visual Studio 2005? Any word on support for the new version now that it's been available for several months?

The UIQ_2.1 descriptor makes carbide.vs use the SDK Root as \Symbian\UIQ_21\runtime and thus it uses the epocroot as \Symbian\UIQ_21\runtime\epoc32, I was wondering where does it pick that info from the descriptor file so that I can change the sdk root to \Symbian\UIQ_21\
