Why couldn't they use UIQ, but had to make their own platform for the device.

Isn't Symbian too fragmented anyway?

This sound like NIH syndrome.

wouldnt using uiq kinda date the phone? after all, nokia are looking for state of the art technology: a first, and something that hasnt been done before. By using UIQ, they would be taking things way back. Nokia are looking to push things forward, not take them back. Personaly, im happy with UIQ. Ive recently purchased a sony ericsson P800 phone, which is about 2 or 3 years old now, and its 200 times better than my old phone which is about 6 months old now. It was cheaper too ;). So ill agree, UIQ is cool, but it looks like nokia would disagree.

I've worked with both SDK, and the new one is almost identical. A few additional call had to be implemented to support some of its new functionality but not much more. Chances are your application could run with little changes.

The 7710 has more than 90 MB internal memory!!!
