Motorola A1000 is now available for purchase
The release of the Motorola A1000 makes the ninth UIQ based phone available and is also the first UIQ phone with two-lenses - VGA for video calling and a 1.2 megapixel camera for still and video capture.
UIQ is a user interface platform for Symbian OS, especially designed for media rich mobile phones. It is designed to offer easy access to the wide variety of data services in 2.5G and 3G networks. The A1000 is the third generation of Motorola's UIQ based phones. It is also the latest addition to Motorola's growing 3G portfolio and appeals to consumers who need more than just a handset.
“We have now launched our third 3G mobile handset based on the UIQ platform", commented Greg Estell, vice president and acting general manager, Europe, Motorola personal communications sector. "Our new model A1000 has a light, compact design and sophisticated feature set giving mobile users the ability to experience the true benefit of 3G in a great looking device."
The phone has a very attractive and slim form factor and only weighs 160 grams. It boasts multi-media streaming, capture and playback with MPEG4 and MP3 files and dual-audio speakers to satisfy the fun-seeker side of all professionals. Using the A1000, users can also choose to view content either in landscape or portrait sizes, allowing the content to be displayed at its best.
The A1000 delivers video conferencing capabilities, Word®, Excel®, Powerpoint® and PDF® document viewing capabilities and full HTML browsing for a true mobile office experience - all with the benefits of 3G content and services.
The Motorola A1000 is now available in Italy, the UK and Australia. It will be available in Sweden, Denmark and Norway in week 46.
