Carbide.c++ v1.2 beta available for download
Forum Nokia has just released the beta version of Carbide.c++ 1.2. This version is yet another big improvement over version 1.1 and introduces several new features:
BLD.INF/MMP based compilation, so a project build or created with carbide are directly compatible with Codewarrior or command line. The BLD.INF file is also parsed at compilation, which means that SVG icons can be generated from the IDE, no more command line compilation specifically for them as with Codewarrior, and project with a single BLD.INF listing several MMP can be imported and compiled straightforwardly.
A MMP editor. Project MMP file can be edited with the Carbide.c++ classic text editor or through three specific windows if you do not feel at ease with the MMP syntax. Another nice improvement is that changes are taken into account immediately. No more project reimport...
And yes, finally we got it: UIQ 3 On Target Debugging is now available with Carbide.c++ 1.2. The setup is not as easy to setup as with S60 3rd Edition but it works. That will probably makes a lot of people happy in Ronneby.
The Symbian Project Navigator pane is also a nice new thing. No revolution at all, it is just a pane listing all files from your project, BLD.INF/MMP/ sources and headers / resources etc.... A good enhancement for your personal productivity.
Speed of the project import and compilation has been greatly improved (still not as fast as Codewarrior however).
I have been using Carbide.c++ 1.2 for a couple of month now and I can insure you that the Nokia tool team has been doing a great job with this version. OF course, the tool is still not perfect. I still prefer the Codewarrior debugger and Carbide.c++ does not handle very well projects that need to be compiled for several variants (UIQ3, S60 3rd, etc...). If you go with these limitations (there are workarounds), I am sure that you will see a great enhancement.
You can download Carbide.c++ v1.2 beta from Forum Nokia. This beta version does not require a specific license to work but will expire on May, 20th 2007.

Where did you find UIQ3 on-target debugging support information? Nokia or UIQ say nothing about it, and SE development site is not accessible...

Good to read !
Is the Localization support integrated in this version ?
GCCE and precompiled header?
I searched in forum nokia and found some comment about this, but no replay from Nokia.
It really would speed up building, a lot, given that carbide (eclipse) consume tooooo much resource
