Borland C++BuilderX v1.5
Borland has announced a new update of its C++BuilderX Mobile Edition environment. The major update of this new feature is the integration of Rapid Application Development features such as form and menu designers to speed the development of Symbian mobile applications.
The C++BuilderX Mobile Edition form designer is currently only available for the Series 60 platform (UIQ development is still possible but without the help of this designer). Additionally, the menu designer allows you to visually create menu items and attach events using more than 50 nonvisual components, including support for Bluetooth, messaging, PIM, and camera device technologies.
I have not been able to have my hand on this new release, but the very poor wizard of the first version of C++BuilderX was one of the issue with this IDE. But with its ease of use and now these additional designers, it is probably the best IDE to start development on the Symbian platform.
C++BuilderX v1.5 is available for pre-order on Borland web site and should be shipping soon. The full license cost US$400, while the upgrade from v1.0 is US$240.
