Bluetooth: PC-Suite Configuration

Part III: PC-Suite Configuration
Keywords:

To sync your calendar / contact data with your Outlook or Palm Desktop data, you have to properly configure the Nokia PC-Suite software. As far as I know, you have no alternative at the date of writing of this article. And if you use another software to handle your agenda, you won't be able to sync it easily with your NS 60 device.

The configuration

To configure PC-Suite, you first have to get the serial COM port used by your adaptor. To do this, right-click the bluetooth icon in the System Tray, then select Advanced Configuration. This should bring up a configuration window, select the Local Services tab : btSerialSetting.png

Note the COM port number the Bluetooth Serial Port is using (COM3 on the screenshot). Note that you must use this way of retrieving the COM port. If you select the "My Bluetooth Places" icon and one of the serial port icons (one for each of your bluetooth device paired with your computer), you will not get the right value : btSerialSetting2.png

Now right-click on the mRouter icon btmRouterIcon.png in the systray and select Properties. Tick the box corresponding to the serial port noted above: btmRouterConfig.png

The second serial port must not be selected.

Establishing the link

You are now ready to establish the connection. Check that Bluetooth is activated on your device (ant that you have paired it with the computer). Right-click the Bluetooth icon in the systray and establish a serial link with your device:

btSerialOK.png

After a few seconds, the mRouter shall animate and change to the connected state: btmRouterIcon.png

You should now be able to start PC-Suite and exchange information with your device.

Thanks a lot MERCI. Indeed, the serial port defined in Local service (Com4) is not the same as the one in the Bluetooth property (Com5) However the Bluetooth connexion is working fine (6310 accept the connexion) BUT PC suite does not see anything. I did not find the mrouter configuration, I use Dlink DBT 120. Thanks anyway for your help But I think that PC Suite is not compatible with DBT 120

> Bluetooth: PC-Suite Configuration

Yes it is! I am also using a DBT-120. But, it is true that setting all these things up is quite a nightmare.

> Bluetooth: PC-Suite Configuration

A nightmare en effet, I've spend half off my week-end on that. By the way how can I go to the mrouter configuration ? There is no Icon on the systray, only the Nokia com and the bluetooth one. Your help is more than appreciate, you're an hero !

To Whom who is interested.

I was facing the same problem like you.

I am using a Dell Latitude D800 NoteBook, I got the latest Drivers from Dell for my bluetooth Device, version 3.0.1.804 which PC suite didn't detect it, even tried to install older versions 1.4.1.3 which my Bluetooth device didn't work at all. So I download a driver from IBM for Bluetooth Version (WIDCOMM) ver 1.4.3.4 Here is the link. Direct Link of this Driver is: ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/bthwxp1o.exe

Instructions:

1- Uninstall Bluetooth.

2- Install This Version

When you install this Driver you need to search for phone devices and configure it.

3- Reinstall your Nokia PC Suite 6.2.16

4- Your Nokia will detect the Ports of Blootoot such as COM 8 or COM 6 depends on your Machine.

5- You can even use Oxygen phone manager through Bluetooth Port. Nokia and Oxygen can't work together, you need to disable the Nokia blootooth from Nokia Connection Manager from Control Panel.

Best Regards; Cyrus.

Re: > Bluetooth: PC-Suite Configuration

Hi,

An esier step 3 for what Cyros wrote is: Open control panel-->Add remove programs.

Locate "PC Connectivity Solution", click on it and choose "Repair".

When it is done, Nokia PC-Suite will connect correctly.

regards,
/Shmulik.

Help me.. I use Nokia PC suite for 6600 version 1.0.

I use blueetooth USB dongle from BlueSis (?), I also install NCF 1.2 (Nokia Connectivity Framework) and Nokia C++ SDK version 2.1 for series 60

I use NCF Bluetooth USB driver, cause NCF does not work with other driver (am I right ?). My NCF able to connect my emulator with my phone , but not smoothly (only able to find phone device, sometimes able to find service run on my phone device, and not able to read attributes of particular service on my phone device -> I run btdiscovery, btpointtopotin and btobjectechange from SDK sample)

When I look up my mrouter properties, it set Bluetooth port to COM500 (wow). When I look at my NCF, it creates virtual COM3 and COM4. My mrouter detect COM3 and COM4 but say that it's unknown connection type instead of bluetooh connection. I can't change it to bt connection type. I have tried to switch BT on my phone and run my USB device on my NCF but mrouter are not able to find my phone device. my mrouter also not able to find my phone when I shutdown my NCF.

what should I do to make my PC Suite Work ? anybody wanna help me how to make my emulator can find and connect to services run on my phone device (software development issue)

thank for any help

Hi.... i am trying to connect my 6600 to my laptop.... After i start the connection.... The error message appears:

The Bluetooth Serial Port connection failed : The remote device closed the connection.

What should i do guys

> Bluetooth: PC-Suite Configuration

This is tricky, recently installed latest version of PC suite everything seems perfect and works well except the contacts. I am using DKU-2 with latest ver of PC suite, it picks up in a flash both my phones 6630 and 6230 but when I am trying to sync or view contacts on both its not letting me. Mysteriously only 2 contacts have appeared and thats it. When I am trying to sync first I got message "sync failed, phone not responding make sure its on stand by" so I exited all windows on phone that message went away. After that when I tried syncing I get message on phone " connecting, sending/receiving, contacts ok" in quick successions but nothing actually is syncronised on my PC. Any ideas? PC sycn is there on phone connections/syncronisation settings.

> Bluetooth: PC-Suite Configuration

I have a Nokia 6600 and can synchronise with Bluetooth to my laptop via Bluetooth dongle. I cannot sync. to PC Suite. When I open Local Services a "bluetooth serial port" is not in the "Name of Service". Any suggestions?

> Bluetooth: PC-Suite Configuration

Hi

I have a Dell Latitude D800... running under XP (SP2). When i Start my PC, the connection is fine (with PC suite 6.5) If I go away and loose the connection for a while... when I come back... I can't reconnect and it seems PC Sync is totally "lost in space".

Please help...

Thank you for writing this tutorial. I own a Nokia 3650 which gave me alot of grief since I couldn't figure out how to connect it to computer. I found instructions on other sites that were indecipherable, but your tutorial was clear and straight forward.
